Trisha's Bollywood Entry with 'Khatta Meetha'

With Katrina Kaif having flown the coup, Akshay Kumar has no choice but to keep experimenting. For his July release Khatta Meetha he has flown in the Southern spice Trisha Krishnan.
Trisha is no spring chicken. She has around 35 odd films under her belt in Tamil and Telugu. Yup, she’s on top of her game in Tamil Nadu. “So, honestly the incentive

to try out Bollywood films is only there if the film is exceptional,” says the sorted girl, who is on her way to Monte Carlo right this minute. She’s doing a Tamil film with Kamal Haasan and R Madhavan; and she’ll be “at sea” for at least 45 days.
Trisha explains that she waited patiently for the right Bollywood break. And she thinks that Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha that has his hallmark slapstick style mixed with a socially relevant topic should do the trick for her. “I have a serious role in the film. I’m a collector,” she says. “Khatta Meetha is not a Hera Pheri but it has its own strengths.” Her co-star Akshay, she says, was doubly encouraging on this project because “he is my producer and my hero.” When asked about her reputation of being a wild party girl, she objected saying, “That’s unfair. I don’t think I’m like that.”
She has also thinks the obvious comparison to earlier Southern imports Asin Thottumkal and Genelia D’Souza is unfair. “Asin has been around in Mumbai for close to two-and-a-half years. And Genny has been here for a while
too. So, I wouldn’t want any comparisons to them. They’ve proved themselves already.”
Trisha feels what goes in her favour is the fact that “even down South, I’m not branded with any image. I can be moulded the way a film-maker wants. And, that is my strength.” Only the success of Khatta Meetha can tell whether this theeki Madrasi mirchi will continue to spice up the Hindi flicks like some of her predecessors, or whether she’ll be sent back to base without another try.
