Gul Panag turns 30 today
Age is just a number for actress Gul Panag who was in the city to promote her upcoming film Turning 30. “For a woman of today, she is as old as she feels. I don’t feel a day over 20. I am as frivolous and irresponsible as I was when I was 20. And, I don’t mean that in a bad way.
Except that I am now a little more grounded in reality and know where my life is going,” says the pretty lass who had a racy weekend at Irungattukottai and even got her shot of adrenaline as she took part in an allwomen’s race, “But, if I were to look back at my 20s, there are a few things I wish I could change; I wish I had the kind of understanding of things I have now. 30 is the new 20 and it’s the age one truly comes of age,” she insists.
And, Turning 30 is a film that deals with just that; it is a humorous take on a single young woman’s journey of finding herself as she fights anxieties and fears of turning 30.
“When I was first approached with this script, I was about 29 and I was excited because I had an instant connect with it,” she says, “The role of Naina is very well etched out. She is a very different person to who I am. Naina is a far more gutsy and someone who pushes the envelope. Hers is a life that every man and woman would love to live but don’t have the guts. I wish I could live life on the terms she lived her life. I am still shackled by morality.”
The movie deals with conflicts that an urban woman faces and Gul says in life too conflicts are aplenty. “For instance, the conflict of being in love with somebody but at the same time being attracted to another person. You meet this guy and he is everything you want him to be, he says everything you want him to say and does everything in life that you want to do. And suddenly, you find yourself attracted to another guy who is a total antithesis of this person. How does one deal with that,” she asks on a philosophical note.
Gul spent some of her best years in the south. Having studied in a residential school in Ooty, she says those were the best days of her life. “I always remember going home for holidays. The journey to Delhi by train was the most fun. There would be a group of students travelling together in a batch and we were not under direct supervision. The teacher who travelled with us let us have all the fun we wanted to have.” Of Chennai too, she has some fond memories. “The first time I came to Chennai was when I was about 2 or 3 years old. It was raining heavily and there was knee-deep water in some parts. I remember travelling by autorickshaw to my aunt’s place and when I got out of the rickshaw, I dropped all my money in a puddle of water,” she reminisces.
But it’s the food she loves the most. “I’ve always loved south Indian food; Chettinad cuisine is my favourite. The best dosas are available when you drive between cities in Mettupalayam, Gudalur or Salem —

Amisha refused to do steamy scene with Leander paes
Amisha Patel, who was in the news recently for signing Rajdhani Express opposite Leander Paes, has developed cold feet and dumped the film; she has no interest in acting in it anymore supposedly because it has many bold scenes in it. Apparently, the actress was not at all comfortable with doing some very crucial scenes in the film, as they were explicitly bold. Most importantly, she was required to play a flirtatious woman, who would do just about anything for money. So, the role was too brash for Amisha’s comfort.
Added to this, were a few steamy lovemaking scenes with Tennis star Leander Paes, which Amisha was apparently not at ease with. Hence, the actress has now walked out of the project.
Our source said, “The film has many love making scenes including a bold one with Paes. Amisha has to show a lot of skin and her character is also unapologetic for all that she does in the film. Amisha also had lines with bold language. Her look in the film was designed in a manner to make her look forthright and vulgar, which Amisha was not happy about. So, when the director Ashok Kohli narrated the script to her she knew she was not cut out for it. Amisha spoke to the director, who understood her point of view and agreed to let her go.”
When contacted, Amisha Patel said, “No, I am not doing the film anymore.”
The ball is clearly in Leander’s court; he will have to work his charms on a brand new actress now.

Sheila ki Jawaani one of my raunchiest songs: Katrina
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who has done a sizzling item number Sheila ki Jawaani for her upcoming film Tees Maar Khan, feels that the song is one of the raunchiest she has ever shot.
"It was kind of a learning experience for me.
"It was kind of a learning experience for me. I don't take the song being called item as an offense
There is exposure in the song but it is more about attitude and I was specific about it. It is about dancing with openness and not being inhibited," Katrina said during an interaction here.
"It had be one of the raunchiest songs I have ever shot," she added.
The actress, who showcased a rarely seen avatar of hers in the song, said she had watched many DVDs of old films prior to doing Sheila ki Jawaani.
"Farah gave me a lot of DVDs of older movies not to imitate or emulate. I can never do that even if I wanted to but just to see the way Madhuriji (Dixit) dances and the joy she felt while dancing... how focused and involved she was," Katrina said.
Tees Maar Khan, an action-comedy stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina in the lead and with Akshaye Khanna in a cameo. Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor too have made special appearances in the film, which is releasing on December 24.

Sanjay Dutt to play the main villain in Agneepath remake
One film that has been in the news ever since its announcement has been the remake of Agneepath to be directed by debutant Karan Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
By now its common knowledge that Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra star in the lead roles of this eagerly anticipated remake. However, the latest development is that besides Hrithik and Priyanka, Sanjay Dutt has also been signed for the film. Apparently, Sanjay would be playing the main villain in the remake (a role played by Danny Denzongpa in the original version)
It may be recalled that Hrithik and Sanju did clash with each other on-screen in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir almost 10 years ago. Now with Hrithik playing the hero and Sanju the villain, it would be interesting to witness this clash all over again.
