Ranbir kept me on my toes:Priyanka Chopra

Doing Eros International’s and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’s “Anjaana Anjaani” (releasing worldwide yesterday) is one of Priyanka Chopra’s best career decisions. For PC, this high-octane-romantic drama shot extensively in America and directed by the young Siddharth Anand, is a project that offered her all the challenges she looks for in a film.

It is produced by one of her favourites, Sajid Nadiadwala, a name Bollywood associates with glitz and content and co-produced by Krishika Lulla. And, it gave the actor a chance to team up with Ranbir Kapoor, who is tipped off to be Bollywood’s boy wonder. “What’s more, Ranbir is a co-star who kept me on my toes,’’ says PC. “He is such a fantastic actor. Not only can you not take your eyes off him when he is on-screen, when he is on set, you can’t tell how he’ll surprise you with his next shot.’’
Clearly “Anjaana Anjaani” has what it takes. So it’s hardly surprising that the film has opened to rave reviews in London. It is also riding a huge wave of curiosity in other parts of the world. And, the local bookies have placed their bets on this film because of the terrific curiosity on the virgin Ranbir and Priyanka combination. A trade source says, “For the youngsters, this is a screen pair, they’re literally dying to see.’’ Sajid says he can understand this sentiment. “Believe me, when I signed these two actors the trade was very excited. And today everyone is congratulating me for my foresight,’’ reveals Sajid.
Adds Priyanka, “Everything about this film is fresh. It’s a young, fun film. A classic love story that inspires you to live your life to the fullest. And, Siddharth is a director who knows how to get the best performances from his actors.’’ As for the popcorn prince Ranbir, whose every performance so far has been worth the steep price of the multiplex ticket, “Anjaana Anjaani” is yet another film that he is sure will deliver. Says Ranbir, “This is one of the best love stories that I have seen and been a part of. It is such a charming film, that it makes you laugh, cry, dream, scream-out-loud and even break into a song. It’s the quintessential Bollywood romance that our audience devours.’’
